Livote

Live polls for webinars and online events (Zoom, Teams, Meet)

Attendees at a webinar or online event vote from their phone, and the answers appear as a chart in real time. They scan a QR code or open a link in the meeting chat — no app to install, no account to create.

You show it in Zoom, Teams or Meet through the OBS virtual camera. Instead of waiting for raised hands or chat replies, the room’s answers are on screen as they come in.

How to set it up

  1. Create an event and write your questions. Line up several in one event and move through them with “Next question” in the console
  2. In OBS, add a Browser source with the URL from “Place this in OBS” (1920 × 1080), and build a scene with your own camera underneath
  3. Press “Start Virtual Camera” in OBS, then set the camera in Zoom, Teams or Meet to “OBS Virtual Camera”
  4. Press “Copy for chat” in the console and post the join link in the meeting chat. The join QR code and URL also show on screen
  5. Open, close and reveal each question from the console. Afterwards, download the summary CSV and the time-series CSV from the results page

The virtual camera is video, so transparency does not carry over. The first time, your OS asks for permission to use it — clear that before the day, not during the event.

If “Mirror my video” is on in Zoom, text on the chart may appear reversed.

Where it fits in online events

  • Webinars: ask the room instead of waiting on raised hands
  • Study sessions and briefings: let attendees pick which topic to go deeper on next
  • Bring the join QR code and join code back on screen whenever latecomers arrive
  • Run a series of questions, then drop the results into a spreadsheet for your report

The CSVs hold questions, options, vote counts and shares, plus the trend in 10-second steps. They do not include who voted for what.

One vote per person is decided per device, so it is not suited to prize draws or decisions that need strict counting.

Frequently asked questions

How do I show live poll results in Zoom, Teams or Meet?

Use the OBS virtual camera. Build an OBS scene that contains the poll’s Browser source, press “Start Virtual Camera”, and choose “OBS Virtual Camera” as the camera in your meeting app. The meeting shows the OBS scene as-is.

What should I watch out for when screen sharing?

Anyone who knows the OBS URL can open the same screen. Keep the OBS settings window (the one showing the URL) off any screen share or screenshot. If you think it leaked, duplicate the event and continue from the copy — duplicating issues a fresh join code and a fresh OBS URL.

Do attendees need an account or an app?

No. Scanning the QR code or opening the link brings up the voting page in their browser. It comes in English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese and Korean, and follows the browser language.

Can I use the results in a report afterwards?

Yes. From a finished event’s results page you can download a summary CSV (questions, options, vote counts and shares) and a time-series CSV (the trend in 10-second steps). How long results are kept depends on the plan; on the free plan it is 7 days.

How many people can take part?

The free plan covers up to 50 people at once. On paid plans, one ticket covers a stream for up to 10,000 people for 1 hour, and larger audiences use more tickets. See pricing for each plan’s limit.
